Matching new brickwork to the existing house, and setting the floor and patio levels so the inside flows straight out to the seating area.
A rear extension lives or dies on two details: whether the new brick matches the old, and whether the inside actually connects to the outside. Here the brickwork was matched to the existing house so the addition does not announce itself, and the bi-fold doors open the whole rear wall in good weather.
The raised patio seating area was set to the right level so stepping out is seamless. It turns a back wall into a threshold, which is the point of a rear extension in the first place.
